Low tides on the northern California coast generate tide pools brimming with ocean life. Scrambling over slippery, seaweed encrusted rocks in pursuit of hidden ocean life is a favorite pastime of mine. The starfish is just one of the creatures that lives in these ephemeral pools of briny water. I painted this as part of my Seashore Series for my daughter's Mendocino wedding.
